About Melrose Music Society

Since its founding in 1962, Melrose Music Society has been presenting a season of chamber concerts, running from autumn to spring, performed by musicians of the highest calibre. Some are young performers in the early stages of their professional careers, while others have well-established reputations. We encourage home-grown talent from Scotland while also welcoming performers from further afield. Each season, we seek to offer as wide a variety of music as possible: from solo recitals to larger chamber ensembles, and ranging from the famous classics to lesser-known works, especially those by living composers.

The experience of a live performance of the very highest standard, in intimate surroundings, is sublime, beyond anything that can be replicated online, on radio, on TV, or CD. We are thrilled to be able to bring that experience to the people of Melrose and its environs.

Our concerts are held in Melrose Parish Church Hall, which is blessed with excellent acoustics and provides an ideal, intimate environment for chamber music. We thank the Church for its always friendly co-operation in making this delightful venue available. We are proud to offer pianists the opportunity to perform on our beautiful Petrof grand piano, an instrument that has received praise from all of our previous performers and is a wonderful asset for the Society.
